What you need to know about the Polo Grounds
- Getting there
- The roads in the area are narrow country roads. Please try to follow the directions on the website to/from the Polo Grounds so that we don't upset the neighbors.
- As you drive in Hughes Rd from River Rd, you will first pass two entrances for the Capital Polo Club on your left. DO NOT USE THESE ENTRANCES. The entrance for the August Cup fields is approximately 1 mile down Hughes Rd on your left and is clearly marked for the August Cup.
- Parking
- Is expected to be tight. Please carpool if you can.
- Please follow directional parking signage.
- Please park close the car next to you and pull all the way into the parking space.
- All parking is field parking.
- There is one narrow driveway for the entrance and one for the exit. Please
make sure you're going in/out the right way.
- Concessions
- We are still in discussions with a food vendor
- Carmen's Italian Ice - Best italian ice for miles and miles! Assorted
flavors, and they're all good!
- Water and Gatorade will be available for purchase at the tournament
headquarters tent.
- Bagels, donuts and coffee will be available for purchase on Saturday
and Sunday mornings.
- T-shirts: If you forgot to pre-order a t-shirt, don't worry. We'll have a
supply of shirts at the Polo Grounds for sale.
- The fields
- Although it's called the Polo Grounds - All fields are ONLY used for 5 Soccer events per year. All the fields are flat, hard and fast.
- While the Polo Grounds are surrounded by
beautiful trees, there is not a lot of shade available, so please be
prepared for the sun! Tents for both players and parents are encouraged,
and there will be designated team tent areas so you set up camp for the
day. Bring plenty of fluids and sunblock!
- Tournament Trainers will be onsite to assist injured players. Just ask your field marshal to radio for a trainer if one is needed.
