August Cup 2012 Friday August 26th - Sunday August 28th

The 2012 August Cup tournament is approved and sanctioned by the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

    Age Groups

  • Challenge Divisions: U9 - U19 boys and girls age groups that now primarily play in the division 2 to division 6 equivalent skill level of travel soccer.
  • Champions Divisions: U13-U19 boys and girls age groups that play in the Division 1 / premier leagues.

    Games

  • Primary venues will be the Maryland SoccerPlex and the Polo Grounds in Poolesville.
  • All teams will play 3 games 50 or 60-minute in length depending on the age bracket.
  • All championship games will be played at the SoccerPlex on Sunday afternoon.
  • Most teams will play two 50 or 60 minute games on Saturday and one game on Sunday morning.
  • Friday and Saturday Night Flight games will be played at the SoccerPlex artifical turf fields. U15 - U19 age groups may have a Friday evening game.
  • First games of the morning will start at 8am on each day.

  • All games are played in accordance with FIFA rules, except as specially modified by Tournament Rules.

  • The application for this tournament will be available around May 15, 2012 on this tournament web site.
  • Application and fees deadline is midnight July 1, 2012.
  • Teams will be notified of acceptance into the tournament no later than July 26th, 2012 .
  • The team registration fees includes all referee fees.

    Registration/check-in

  • Team Check-in will be held the Thursday and Friday evenings before the tournament weekend. Thursday evening check-in is at Wakefield Recreation Park in Northern Virginia and Friday check-in is at the SoccerPlex Discovery Sports Center. Additional information will be provided on the team manager pages for teams accepted into the tournament
  • Teams are required to present at registration a 2012 - 2013 certified roster, 2012 - 2013 player card for each player with photo, guest player passes, medical release forms for each player and guest player and a state-approved permission to travel form for teams traveling from outside of USYSA Division 1.

    Housing

  • The August Cup does not require usage of a reservation service in conjunction with the tournament. You're on your own to find the best rate possible. The tournament will provide a list of recommended area hotels at have hosted teams in the past and that we've received good reports on. Area room rates start at around $100.00.
  • A link to the housing service will be available off the tournament's main website soon.

    Awards

  • Individual trophies are presented to first place teams in each division.
  • All players will receive tournament patches that will be provided at team registration.
  • The exchange of patches by teams is encouraged, but not required.

    Eligibility

  • The August Cup Tournament is open to competitive-level club and travel teams.
  • This is a United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) sanctioned tournament through the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).
  • All teams must be in good standing with their state association. Teams registered with US Club Soccer are welcome to participate in the tournament
