August Cup - 2007 Friday August 24th - Sunday August 26th

The 2007 August Cup tournament is approved and sanctioned by the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

    Age Groups

  • Challenge Divisions: U9 - U19 boys and girls age groups that now primarily play in the division 2 to division 6 equivalent skill level of travel soccer.
  • Champions Divisions: U13-U19 boys and girls age groups that play in the Division 1 / premier leagues.

    Games

  • Primary venues will be the Maryland SoccerPlex and the Polo Grounds.
  • All teams will play 3 games 50 or 60-minute in length depending on the age bracket.
  • All championship games will be played at the SoccerPlex on Sunday afternoon.
  • Most teams will play 2 full-length (50 or 60 minutes) games on Saturday and one game on Sunday morning.
  • If finished in time, Friday and Saturday Night Flight games will be played at the new SoccerPlex artifical turf fields and at a local lighted field. U13 - U19 age groups may have a Friday evening game.
  • First games of the morning will start at 8am on each day.

  • All games are played in accordance with FIFA rules, except as specially modified by Tournament Rules.

    Application (see the Application for complete details)

  • The application for this tournament will be available around May 1, 2008 on this tournament web site.
  • Application and fees deadline is midnight July 1, 2008.
  • Teams will be notified of acceptance into the tournament no later than August 1, 2008 .
  • The team registration fees includes all referee fees.

    Registration/check-in

  • Team Registration will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the SoccerPlex Discovery Sports Center. See team manager pages for additional information.
  • Player passes, certified rosters, Permission to Travel forms and medical release forms will be checked at that time.
  • Teams are required to present at registration a state-approved roster, player card for each player with photo, including guest players; medical release for each player, including guest players; and a state-approved permission to travel form for each team traveling from outside of USYSA Division 1.

    Housing

  • The August Cup has reserved room blocks at reasonable rates in local area hotels. Room rates start at around $100.00. Teams staying overnight are required to use the tournament's housing service.

    Awards

  • Individual trophies are presented to first place teams in each division.
  • All players will receive tournament patches that will be provided at team registration.
  • The exchange of patches by teams is encouraged, but not required.

    Eligibility

  • The August Cup Tournament is open to competitive-level club and travel teams.
  • This is a United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) sanctioned tournament through the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).
  • All teams must be in good standing with their state association.
